Oh, the pressure of Pablo Neruda
Mo said she likes the Pablo Neruda poem I picked for her wedding. GREAT! But now I have to read it! Out loud! To an audience! Me! In just three days!
I just read it to Andy and he laughed at me. He gave me a few pointers but ack, why can't Andy just read it? He thrives on public speaking (freak). In fact I married him just so I would never have to speak in public - leave it all to the uber extrovert.
Can I just say how HOT Pablo Neruda is? Wow, this is my kind of poetry. I am in love.
SONNET LXIX
~ By Pablo Neruda
Maybe nothingness is to be without your presence,
without you moving, slicing the noon
like a blue flower, without you walking
later through the fog and the cobbles,
without the light you carry in your hand,
golden, which maybe others will not see,
which maybe no one knew was growing
like the red beginnings of a rose.
In short, without your presence: without your coming
suddenly, incitingly, to know my life,
gust of a rosebush, wheat of wind:
since then I am because you are,
since then you are, I am, we are,
and through love I will be, you will be, we'll be.

That's a beautiful poem.
You made an excellent choice.
Go slow with the reading, and it will be fine.
The words will do all the work. ;-)

What an incredible poem. It sounds absolutely perfect for them, and I think you will be great at the reading part. Just read it enough times that you're really comfortable with the cadence, and you'll be great. Really. Just remember that everyone listening to you will be focusing on Mo and Miro, not on you. You'll be like a 1 minute soundtrack of sorts.

That is just sooo beautiful. I'm feeling ferclemnt.
Don't worry, just do what I do and drink about 3 glasses of wine before going up there to speak.
If you totally fuck it up you can say there was something wrong with the drinks.
It'll be perfect though.
Please tell Mo Congratulations for me. I'm really excited for her!
