And the winner is....

Andy almost got in a fight last night with the Concrete Guy. We've been married for 8 1/2 years now and I've known Andy since I was 7 years old and in all that time I can't think of one fight he has been in (even that time Matt threw a beer bottle at his head then rolled him down a hill right before he had a big meeting with Yahoo he laughed it off).

Last night he thought the Concrete Guy was going to hit him when Andy said he wouldn't pay him more money because of the terrible job he did at our house. That's when Andy thought Concrete Guy was about to take a swing at him. Andy started to pet the dog so he could casually duck out of the guy's way just in case. I asked him what would have happened if Concrete Guy would have hit him and he said, "we would have had a fight."

So exciting! I think if Andy were ever to get in a fight I'd rather it be over something other than concrete -- something good like defending my honor, you know. Anyway, kind of interesting to think of your "lover-not-a-fighter" husband brawling.

Extra tidbit: Tom told me that it is called "concrete" when it comes out of a truck and "cement" when you mix it yourself. Good to know. I'm sure I've been embarrassing myself this whole time with such a faux pas.

P.S. Blog spam is good for blogging. Had I not logged in to delete a few colorful comments no one would have known about Andy's almost fight.

I'm sure many home remodel projects that have ended in blows! :-) I'm just glad I didn't get the new concrete all bloody. ;-)

Yes, cement + aggregate + water + drying = concrete.
This what happens when a client is a cement company.

For the record, I'm hacker, not a fighter.

The company who worked on my driveway didn't do a good job on the concrete work. Actually, I couldn't tell the difference but my architect parents where offended by the shoddy work. What did my architects tell me to do? Simply write a letter to the company who did the work for me along with my payment for the work they completed correctly minus the amount it would cost me to correct their shoddy work. That way if they decided to ingore me, no worries, I simply hire another firm to fix the work. They immediately contacted me and said that they would come back and fix it. Trouble was, they would have to take a jack hammer to the now completely dry concrete which would have damaged my new retaining wall. So, we made a deal. We met half way to cover the cost of the mistake. Saved me about $600. The discussion with the owner of the company took 3 minutes. No fight necessary. :-) Apparently, that's how it's done in the construction industry all the time (from residential to commercial work). Not as exciting as reality TV moments but a bit less stressful. ;-)

Well seems that you and I have different memories of Andy's taste for blood...I do believe that the very first sentence that my three year old brain could string together was "ANN-EEE HIT ME!"
