Hang in there Lupe
Fuck. My dog Lupe was hit by a car this morning on my way to taking Karsten to preschool. He is in critical condition right now with bruised lungs, heart and broken ribs. Maybe swelling of the brain. It was my car that hit him. I was driving the car. Fuck. Please, please, please let him make it.
Update (1pm): Lupe is indeed hanging in there. The vet called to say that he is looking stable. They are giving him a pain patch that should last 3-5 days.
Update (4pm): I called to see how Lupe is doing. The receptionist went to ask, "how's Lupe?" and when he heard his name he started wagging his tail. That's my Lupe. The vet will call me again in a few hours. No news is good news at this point.
Update (6pm): Lupe tried to stand up! He couldn't do it, but he tried. He didn't have to go to the 24 hr care place either, which is a good sign. The vet said, "he's not out of the woods yet, but he's improving."

Lots of hugs and kisses for Lupe the wonder dog...Lupe is a fighter and has escaped many a near-death experiences before...once for stealing tacos on a beach in Mexico, I heard! He'll be OK and so will his mom. My love to all.
