Let the Potty Training Begin

Last week I told Karsten, "when Bestemor comes over you're going to get potty trained." Every day I'd mention it, "in just a few days you're going to be potty trained." So when the day Bestemor came over he knew it was time. The tactic of advance warning seems to have worked the best so far. Preschool sent home a certificate reading "Karsten used the potty today!" Then on Friday he used the potty a record three times at preschool.

This is not to say there haven't been accidents. Yesterday I was mixing up my molasses bread and my hands were all sticky. Karsten was playing in the kitchen too. I heard, "uh-oh" and saw some water on the floor. He ran into the bathroom as fast as he could. He took off his pants and his Bob the Builder underwear and finished the minisicule amount of pee pee in the potty. He washed his hands and flushed the toilet then came back into the kitchen naked from the waist down. I asked, "what happened to your underwear?" He answered, "I threw them in the garbage."

Is there a new market for disposable underwear? Hmmm, not a bad idea.
