two days shy of the 8 month mark
Tonight we had our first beach bon fire of the year and Britta snoozed right through the burning of our Christmas tree. (The flaming Christmas tree looked like a giant sparkler.) By the time I came down to the beach Andy informed me Karsten was on marshmellow #10. I make the case that if a happy childhood can be measured by the amount of marshmellows you roast over a fire, I think we're providing a pretty happy life for our kids. Let's just hope they maintain normal blood sugar levels.
As Britta rounds the 8 month mark (6 1/2 months gestational) she has added quite a few skills to her collection in the past thirty days. She can sit on her own now and works hard at inching herself towards things she's interested in, like my VPN device for my laptop or my new casino-style cell phone. Are we raising a gearhead?
She's been eating rice cereal once or twice a day and therefore been logging some good hours of sleep at night -- more than her brother! She isn't quite sure what to think of the rice cereal. I calculate I need to feed her the same bite three to four times to get it down. She popped three teeth this month but isn't using them for chewing. A fourth tooth should be here any day.
I'm about to jinx myself here but I'll type it anyway. It is true, there are easy babies. I didn't think it was possible after having Karsten the Town Crier, but Britta doesn't make a peep unless she's hungry, tired or cutting a tooth. The nice thing about having the second baby be the easy one is that you can really appreciate it.
