Talent Agent Needed

Just in case the name Karsten wasn't going to work for him, I gave him the middle name Joseph, figuring he could always go by "Joe." What I didn't foresee is that my 4 year old would change his name to Garfield. About a month ago I bought Karsten the Garfield movie and now he has become Garfield. He introduces himself to strangers as Garfield and then tells them he is a cat. Andy has become "Jon" and Britta is "Odie." I am the only one lucky enough not to be Garfield-ized. Darn too, because I really wouldn't mind being Jennifer Love Hewitt (Jon's girlfriend in the movie). I find myself slipping and calling Britta "Odie" sometimes.

In the Garfield movie Garfield is played by Bill Murray. A 4 year old Bill Murray is a bit hard to handle on some days but fortunately there are some benefits to having my son morph into Garfield. We've been able to expand his eating palette by telling Garfield to do tricks for his food. Previously he wouldn't eat chicken but now if we let him eat in the kitchen with his tongue hanging out he'll practially eat the whole chicken by himself. He had refused to eat green tortellinis but if he is Garfield the green tortellinis go down as good as the white ones.

This kid has been able to stay in character for a month now. I think it is time to find him an agent and let his inner child star shine. (Nooooooooooooooo!)

Oh nee. I can't believe that Garfield has stuck around for so long. Oh, and I never got a Garfield name either....

Man, Jana, I love that kid of yours!!! I may regret telling you this, but I have a weird thing for Garfield too! I used to tell my family that Garfield was my boyfriend. Now here's the embarassing part...I did that until I was well into my second year of college! Tell Karsten, I mean, my man Garfield, that I have the BIGGEST collection of Garfield stuff imaginable. I even named my cat Pookie :)
