pattern recognition

Karsten and I were looking at the framed photo of our dog. "Lupe has brown eyes, Mommy, just like you and Britta. Lupe must be a girl." Karsten and Andy both have blue eyes. Therefore: boys have blue eyes, girls have brown eyes. And yes, even though our dog is named after the patron saint of Mexico he is blasphemously a boy. A boy with brown eyes. At least he used to be a boy when he was briefly potent.

Also going down in our household: destruction of our basement. Water was discoverd. Plumber called. Drywall torn up. Pergo demolished. Baseboards gone. Paint peeled. Sigh. Just when our house was finally starting to come together and now the basement and our boathouse area are both destroyed. Not sure when I'll even have time to put it all back together.

Andy is back from Vegas though, so that is great news. I've never seen a more pathetic person limp out of Seatac, but who cares, he's breathing and can give me a break from the kids. He finally roused from a 4 hour nap and now I'm meeting Becca at the Tin Room from some drinks. My book club was cancelled for tonight and I was devasted. Book club is the perfect introvert outing but meeting up with Becca will be a treat.

And for the final news, my mom buddy is gone. Brenda is on an adventure cruise to Honduras and Belize. Yay for Brenda for making a cruise an adventure. She's only been gone one day but already I've wanted to call her twice.
