On being 40
Being 40 is not really working out for me. Bad idea to lie up about your age. Last night I went out -- yes, this makes it two nights in a row!-- and people asked me, "how old are you? 32?" When I said, "no 40" people seemed a little surprised but not that much. I tried to up it to 45 but then people just looked confused like "why would someone say they are older than they are? She can already buy her own beer." And while I'm not sad to be the age I am it just isn't right to be even older. Not right. At all.
So today, here I am. Sitting at my computer being my rightful age of 35. Aw, 35 feels good. Buh bye 40.
I had yet another birthday surprise last night. Yes, it has been a nice week of surprises. Andy said, "we're meeting one of your friends. They got us on the guest list for an exclusive club." I immediately thought "Kristin" but remembered she'd had a kidney infection and was going to Jacksonville this week. I thought of a handful of friends who might be able to get me into some fancy club. It turned out it was Kristin, all healed up from her hospitalization and business trip. First we started out at Twist where the owner of the club treated us to some fancy champagne drinks and some "Scottie Shooters." After that little warm up we cut to the front of the line at See Sound for a little dancing. For someone who only gets out once or twice a year (it seems) I could almost make believe for a moment that I was hip.

Happy Birthday! Remember age is just a number (even though some numbers ARE bigger than others)!

Happy birthday, Jana! How did you like Twist? You can almost see into my house from their back window.

Wait until you really turn forty... then you can start lying about your age. Until then, Happy B-day.
