Slipping into 40
One of my top diva friends told me it is always good to lie about your age. Always add a few years so people think "damn, she looks good for 40". This week I turn 40. Well, after Sunday if I round up I'll be 40. Maybe I should even round up to 50! I'll just tell everyone I'm a botox miracle. Anyway...
I hadn't planned on doing anything special this year, even if I am the Big Four Zero. But luckily for awesome girlfriends it hasn't gone by unnoticed. I had taken the kids to the Sunday school party and just as I was changing Britta's diaper and trying to keep Karsten out of the holy water Andy shows up to tell me he has a surprise for me. Brenda and Amber were waiting out in the parking lot to whisk me off to the Salish Lodge for a spa day. Fortunately my swim suit was still in the car from the pool party the night before, I just had to to pick a few crumbs off of it.
We soaked in the hot tub, lounged in the steam room and hung out in the sauna until our masseuses called us in. After a nice hour of pampering we hit the restaurant for some food and drinks. We had the nicest view of the house overlooking the falls.
By the time I got home I seriously could not move, which was a very good thing. Thanks to my girlfriends to the biggest surprise I've ever had! 40 is going to be a good year, I can feel it.
