One down
The best thing about hosting a dinner party is the leftovers. I had to "repackage" the salmon duet in phyllo as "salmon hot dogs with ketchup" so the kids would eat them tonight. Repackaging mission was successful. The leftover brownies didn't need any market positioning at all.
The party was a success, I think. It is tough to get a good sense of a party when you're in the moment of "did I remember to put out the sugar cubes?" and such but there was a moment (thanks to Tina) where I was able to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather, the amazing company, good food and the music of Steve Mason. Someone asked me that night if we would be hosting this party again next year and I immediately said, "no way." I mean how often can you call in so many favors? Every ten years? I borrowed things from my neighbor, a friend of the neighbor, my sister-in-law, people from the board, my parent's neighbors, the church, my mother-in-law and cashed on my friends and family generous enough to volunteer to help.
I still need to finish putting everything away and returning all the borrowed items and then the plan is to find my suitcase and think about packing for my six weeks abroad. All signs point to me screetching out of here in a frenzied state.
