Santa encounter
A man who could pass for Santa Claus if wearing a red suit approached me at Costco today. "You are right out of a 500 year old painting called La Primavera. Do you know this? The resemblance is really frightening." I smiled at Santa because goodness knows I was a) fighting a migraine and b) getting depressed at what a lousy consumer I am and the thought of being in a historic painting was an entertaining thought. I thanked him and googled Botticelli once I got home. Ha! Thanks to numerous art history classes I knew which painting Santa was referring to. Here it is.... but who am I? The one in the cool outfit? The one with the oddly shapped body in the middle? Or one of the ones wearing gauzy see-through dresses? Or do I have a branch in my mouth and am fighting a bad guy?
Thanks Santa, but next time be more specific.
Oh and this conversation is up there with "people say the craziest things" at Costco.

I know! You're the one with the floral-print dess (it seems wrong to describe it so for such a painting). I swear that's the one he was talking about!
I am so jealous. My new goal in life is to remind a stranger of someone in a classical painting (provided it's not a disciple or other man-type).

Good thing he didn't say "Birth of Venus"

Concur with becca. You are so the one in the floral dress, except you don't look pregnant. ;)
As for me, 'tis the season to be reminded how much I sound like all the Charlie Brown kids, especially Linus. :D
Happy holidays!!
