Review: Google SketchUp
I heard Google had an easy to use 3D imaging program. Great, I thought, I can make a model of my house so when I see cool furniture on Craigslist for sale I can see how it would look in my house before I buy it. (I just bought too short of bar stools, if anyone is in the market for some cute ones.)
Make a model of my house... ha ha. So far I've made one corner of the floor in the last half hour. Fortunately I'm watching Oprah while I'm working on it so no major time wasted. It seems as if it should be so easy and perhaps it is, I was just hoping for something with hardly any learning curve. I thought since I know Photoshop and Illustrator it would be easy enough for me.
So this is my quick review. If you're interested in quickly learning SketchUp think twice. It may take more than half an hour to pick up. If anyone has any tips let me know! Maybe I should try out the 3D Warehouse?

I used it to plan a carport on the side of my house. It was nice that I could use the exact measurements, but I wouldn't build anything complex with it.
More eye candy than anything else. I think the original purpose of the tool was to create objects that could be used in Google Earth.
