Introducing Baby Kaj!

My brother is a very proud papa as of around 6:15pm tonight. The kids and I arrived around 6:30 to meet the baby who finally makes me a proud Aunt; Andy an uncle; and my kids 1st cousins.

Little Kaj was a whopper compared to my little runts. He was 8lbs 8oz and got a 10 out of 10 on whatever tests they run. When you have preemies they don't tell you about the tests they run and they certainly don't tell you how poorly they score.

Within half an hour of his birth Kaj was passed around from person to person, breathing on his own, eating from a breast and acting like my babies acted after they were a few months old. No one had to take the baby out of a plastic box to hold him or scrub up like they were going into surgery. What lucky parents my brother and sister-in-law are. I don't know how normal this is but I have to admit I was shocked and a tad jealous of a birth not wrought with anxiety.

They're off to a fabulous start. And I'm smitten again.
