Office dreams

Twice a day I walk through the unused play room in our basement. The playroom that hardly gets used. Space is a huge premium at our house so I am thinking of hijacking that space for my own play room. I am sure once I'm down there that is when the kids will have to have their play room back. Isn't that the way of the universe?
I found this cool chair on craigslist tonight. It could be just the right piece of furniture to get me going. I have emailed the owner to see if it is still available.

My friends are having a virtual garage sale
And basically I want to buy everything.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=Virtual%20Estate%20Sale%20. I told Laura and Jesse I'd buy anything in their house they didn't want.
Remember that organizational jihad I threatened two posts ago? Not gonna happen, although I could tell myself buying their shelves will help get me organized. Yeah, right.
Those shelves are gonna rock in the playroom!

2 reasons my house will never be clutter free
I've been threating I'm moments away an organizational jihad. My mission: to clear out 50% of what is in our house.
Reason 1 while my mission will not be accomplished any time soon:
I got two boxes of Katie's 1970s doll house furniture.

Tell me I can part with this kitchen? I almost want to frame it. Also in the box, mini Renaissance art and more gothic furniture. The doll house rivals my taste in electic.
Reason #2
I was at my mom's house and she was about to get rid of a huge bag of things. I took a peek and found my favorite childhood book in the bag.
Roses are Red. Are violets blue?? A first book about color. I searched and can't find any copies anywhere. The "first book about color" makes me realize I should have seen my future as a designer coming long before my sophomore year in college!
Here's a sample page.
I should photograph more of the pages because looking at it just makes me happy.
I've tried reading this book to my kids and they don't care for it. So sad...but I'll keep reading it anyway.
Anyway, I'm not sure I can part with any of this crap.

"New to me" chairs
I can't stop blogging tonight. We were on a "Scurrying for Burien" scavenger hunt this weekend for a charity event. On the hunt we found ourselves in the Goodwill. We didn't find any clues there but I spied these chairs. They wouldn't fit in the car during the scavenger hunt but Andy was nice enough to pick them up for me today.
$4.99 each.

Why buying furniture for our house is difficult
Email exchange between hubby and me:
Me: Found this awesomely cute shaped couch on craigslist today for only $75. We can go look at it tomorrow night after the party. The guy's giving me measurements.
It will be a project couch though because I'd have to sew a new slipcover for it.
hubby: no link?
me: don't freak
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/fur/387760116.html
I think with a plain slipcover it will rock.
hubby: why in effin hell would you want this pile of crap?! ;-)
Sell our nice couch and get this rat infested flea bomb?
You'll need more than a slip cover... i'll need a slip cover for my eyes!
Me: This is for our BEDROOM. I sold the rocking chair.
Remember, I have the ability to spot a diamond in the rough: husband included. :)
------------
Conclusion:
waiting to see if we get this couch. I think it is the most fantastic couch ever. Ever. (with a new slipcover anyway.)

OMG... best beach house art
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5500176
via Bloesem (again!)
Update: Sorry, I bought the last one because I couldn't resist. However, the "lure catalogue" ones by the same seller are great too. I'm on an "art" framing kick right now.

shhhh...sneaking off to blog
I had a wild hair today to paint the downstairs bathroom dark navy blue. I just finished taping and Andy is almost ready to paint.
He said to me, "I don't know why we needed to paint. Looks fine in here to me."
Me, "I have to live with your crazy ideas (i.e. his entrepreneurnisms) every day. You can live with mine for one night."
Him, "Can't argue with that one."
Hence our almost navy blue bathroom.
Can't wait for Andy to be done.
